From the Files menu, choose Inventory or click the large Inventory button.
This area is used to update the titles in the music library... add, delete and edit titles.
The first screen asks for the Artist and Title you want to add, edit or delete.
As a time-saver, you don't need to type the entire name for Artist or Title.
Simply type the first few characters and the computer will find the closest
match.
Example:
Type NELS and the computer finds NELSON, RICK
Even if the computer doesn't find the artist you were expecting, typing a few characters of the Title will correct the situation.
Example:
Type BLU and the computer determines that no Rick Nelson songs start with BLU. It remembers that the artist you asked for is anyone starting with NELS and so locates "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" by Willie Nelson. (If, that is, your station plays both Ricky and Willie! OK. Bad example.).
Other title-search short-cuts are provided by two Function Keys. Function Key 2 repeats the previous entry on either the artist or the title line.
Example:
After working on "Blue Eyes..." above, you return to the Title Search Screen. You want to edit another Willie Nelson Title. Simply press {F2} when the cursor is in the Artist box. NELSON, WILLIE is entered and the cursor advances to the Title box.
Function Key 4 offers a selection box to use when you know the artist, but aren't sure of the title, or you know the title, but aren't sure of the artist.
Example:
Enter NELS in the Artist box. Press {Enter}. The cursor moves to the Title box. Press {F4}. A selection box appears listing all titles by any artist whose name begins with NELS.
You may scroll through the list using the up and
down arrow keys. Press {Enter} when the light-bar is on the title you wish to
edit or delete. Press {Esc} or click Cancel if there are no titles you wish to use.
The {F4} selection box, besides enabling you to find names you can't remember,
is a quick way to see a listing of all titles by a particular artist, or all
artists who have recorded the same song.
On this screen, the Page-Up and Page-Down keys are also active. After entering
an artist, the cursor moves to the Title box. Press {PgDn} to move to the next
artist in alphabetical order; {PgUp} to move to the previous artist in
alphabetical order.
To add a new title simply enter the Artist and Title names. Since the system
will be unable to locate the entry as an existing title, it will assume you are
adding a new one. It verifies this by asking if you want to add the title.
Click Find It to locate the title, Cancel to return to the main
menu. Clicking Find It with Artist and Title left blank simply
returns you to the last title you worked on.
Once you have selected the artist and title you move to full screen editing. Using the up and down arrow keys, tab or shift-tab, or the mouse
will move the cursor from box to box so that you can enter or change
information. Notice that some boxes may be
inaccessible depending on your setting in Access (See Access Push Button below).
The full screen display is simply a series of fill in the blank boxes. The
Artist and Title boxes will already be filled in based on your input on the
previous screen. You may edit them, but normally you'll simply press {Enter} to
pass through them. The page-up {PgUp} and page-down {PgDn} keys are also
available. {PgUp} scans to the previous title (alphabetically by artist). {PgDn}
scans forward. {Ctrl PgUp} scans back to the previous artist, {Ctrl PgDn} scans
forward to the next artist.
